The Logo and Flag of the OACPS
Since its creation in 1975, the ACP Group has had a distinctive logo consisting of the three interlaced letters A-C-P, symbolizing unity and solidarity among Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific.
Inside each letter appear lines of longitude and latitude, representing the organization’s global scope and the interconnectedness of its members across three continents and three oceans. This simple yet evocative design illustrates the universal mission of the OACPS, to bring together the peoples of the Global South around a shared vision of cooperation, equity, and collective development.
On 17 June 2013, in Brussels, the Organization reached a historic milestone by adopting for the first time an official flag and anthem – symbols of a fully embraced identity and growing institutional maturity.
Presenting the flag during the opening session of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly, Secretary-General H.E. Alhaji Muhammad Mumuni stated:
“Green represents the fertility and natural resources of our countries, gold symbolizes the sun and the warmth of our peoples, and blue embodies the bodies of water surrounding many of our nations, as well as the peace we all strive to achieve.”
The flag consists of three diagonal bands — green, gold, and blue — with the historic ACP logo at its center. Together, the colors and emblem express the geographical diversity, vitality, and shared peace uniting the 79 Member States, one family, one voice, one destiny.
